New hire on Monday, first handover on Tuesday: how to train seasonal staff in one day
It’s high sesion, the branch is booked to the fullest, and a new colleague starts on Monday. By next day at 8 a.m., the first customer of the day is already at the counter.
You probably already know the drill:
- three hours of explanations
- a notebook full of tips
- the line “I’ll show you that later.”
Seasonal staff are a fact of life for car rentals, and every mistake in week one costs money.
What usually can slow down training
- knowing which car is ready and which is not
- where to find the documents and how to get it signed
- what to photograph when there is damage
- who is allowed to see prices and invoices
1. Everyone sees only what they need
Camasys lets you assign permissions by role or location. A newcomer is able to see their own branch and their own tasks, not price lists, analytics or invoices. Fewer screens mean fewer questions and less risk.
2. A checklist instead of a notebook
Tasks are generated automatically from every reservation: prep and cleaning, check-in/out and transfers between branches. Each has a deadline, a checklist, photo proof and a push reminder. The new employee doesn’t even need to know what’s next, because the app tells them.
3. Find the car at a glance
The mobile app has a built-in licence plate scanner. The new employee just scans the car, opens the contract, and photographs any damage with a timestamp so that everything syncs with Camasys in real time.
4. Signing without paper
E-signature and digital documentation replace the huge pile of papers. Contracts and inspection protocols exist in the cloud, available anytime, anywhere they are needed.
What the owner gets
- shorter training: the basics in a day, not a whole week
- less mistakes are made at handover and when logging damage
- real-time visibility: managers can see task status live
- less dependence on one “experienced” employee
How to start small
- Set up roles for the counter, cleaning and management.
- Try tasks at one branch.
- Let the newcomer use the mobile app from day one.
And you won’t be on your own: Camasys offers onboarding tailored to your rental process and real people in support.
