Keybox: the branch that never closes
Sunday evening, a customer is returning from the mountains with a car they rented for three days. The branch has been closed since 5 PM. Keys in the mailbox? Under the wiper? Or a call to you, and you get up off the couch?
Keys that wait until morning
Every car rental owner runs into this scenario. The car is sitting in the lot, but you don’t know when it was returned or where the keys are.
- the customer waits for an employee or has to come back the next morning
- keys travel from a pocket to the counter and on to the mailbox
- the next rental starts later than it could
- nobody knows exactly what time the car was returned
Keybox: return anytime, no staff needed
The customer puts the keys into a locked keybox. The keys stay safe, and the return date and time are recorded automatically once the box is closed. No more waiting, no phone calls. In the morning you have a clear record that the car is back with you.
New from 1 April 2027: the keybox also releases keys
The keybox won’t only receive keys, it will also release them to customers. The customer books the car online, completes the formalities and picks up the keys on their own. At midnight, on a Sunday, on public holidays.
What you gain
- 24/7 pickup and return, with no counter and no night shifts
- an exact record of when the keys were returned
- faster turnaround, because the car is immediately back in the planner and can be rented out again sooner
- happier customers, especially with late flights and early mornings
How to start
- Count exactly how many returns happen outside your opening hours.
- See how a keybox fits into the reservation and e-signature system in Camasys.
- Let your first customers use self-service return and track the results.
Your customers don’t follow your schedule. Set things up so it doesn’t matter that you’re not present 24/7.
